Email

Email has revolutionized the way the world communicates—instantaneous news updates between friends and family members, pictures of the new baby, painless electronic correspondence without the time, effort and expense of envelopes and stamps.

The downsides include inappropriate emails in your inbox, phishing attacks attempting to gain access to sensitive personal information, hoaxes that burn both time and bandwidth, emails containing viruses and worms, and spam email by the hundreds every day pitching everything from adult-oriented products to offshore pharmaceuticals. Studies suggest that spam accounts for approximately 70% of all email traffic,12 adding up to more than 120 billion malicious emails sent worldwide every day.13
